Jake is from California and attends university in Chicago to pursue public policy and film. Outside of school, he has a job, an internship, and hangs out with friends. “Outwardly, most would not suspect I struggle with a variety of chronic health issues including: ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, Asthma, and migraines.” Without access to cutting-edge medicines, Jake knows he would not be able to function. He says he relies on his prescription medication and believes in helping others get the treatment they need.
Jake is concerned that many patients cannot afford their medicines and worries that as soon as he ages off his parent’s insurance plan, he will lose access to his medications. Jake joined Voters for Cures and shared his story because “policymakers need to understand how the impact of their decisions most affect people like me who rely on medication to function in everyday life.”
